Wawenock Golf
Club
2010 Annual
Letter
Greetings Fellow Golfers!
Happy 2010!
Snow is still on the ground but golf
is just around the corner and we can’t wait! Your Wawenock staff and Board of Trustees
have been very busy getting things ready for the new season and are looking
forward to another great year at Wawenock Golf Club!
I would like to begin with a quick
recap of the 2009 season.
Ø
In 2009 Wawenock started its first
ever Capital Campaign. We have risen over $20,000 in donations so far. This
is a big step in helping to fund our cart path project and two much needed
pieces of equipment. Thank you to all who have contributed time and money
to help Wawenock. We will continue our Campaign this year and can still use
any help you can provide.
Ø
As most of you know 2009 started out
WET and stayed WET off and on through most of the season. The Wawenock
staff did a remarkable job keeping the course in great shape despite over
60 inches of rain and four beavers.
Ø
Membership for 2009 was slightly down
with a total of 222 memberships compared to 235 in 2008.
Ø
Dale & Sharlene
Feltis and the Fairway Restaurant provided outstanding food service again
for their second year with WGC. They will also be returning with a great
menu and event hosting.
Ø
John Johnston joined Wawenock staff
as the Golf Instructor. John did a great
job and proved to be a perfect fit with the Wawenock family. We are happy
to announce that John will be returning for the 2010 season. If your swing
needs a little tune-up this year, give him a call and you will be swinging
like a pro in no time.
Ø
2009 again showed great growth in
participation in both the men’s and women’s leagues. For more information on the leagues,
please contact Paul at Wawenock@live.com. Leagues will begin the first week
of June and run for 10 weeks.
We are happy to report that Paul
Richmond will return for his 4th year as General Manager of WGC.
Paul and his staff have some very exciting events planed for 2010. There
are plenty of tournaments and social events on the calendar so get ready to
have some fun this year. Paul has reported that all of the Wawenock Staff
will be returning so you will see some familiar faces out on the course. As
always volunteers are welcome just let him know how you can help.
The Board of Trustees has been
working very hard to find some light in these hard economic times. A lot of
time has been spent discussing the best direction for the health of the
club and its members. We are happy to announce the Board of Trustees has
decided not to raise the membership dues for 2010.
Wawenock Golf Club is also offering
an installment plan for those of you who would prefer to pay for your
membership in three installments.
Please contact Paul Richmond at (207)
563-7500 or via email at Wawenock@live.com for more information on the
terms and conditions of the installment agreement.
January 2010 saw the
annual election of new officers to the Wawenock Board of Trustees. We are
pleased to report that Bill Babcock has agreed to serve on the Board, and
we welcome his expertise and experience!

On a personal note, I wish
to thank each and every member of the Wawenock Board of Trustees. As busy as life is, these individuals
volunteer their time to help make Wawenock Golf Club the special place that
it is!
Please keep in mind that
we are here to serve the members of Wawenock. Please do not hesitate to
contact any member of the board at any time with questions or
suggestions. We are also looking for
interested members to serve on one or more of the committees.
One of the goals for 2010
is to increase the participation and opportunities for volunteers on the
course. Wawenock Golf Club is a
community club, and as a community, we need to rely on volunteers! Please contact Paul Richmond for a list
of volunteering opportunities.
Once again the Board of
Trustees and staff welcome you and we look forward to a successful season.
Yours in Golf,
Chris Feltis,
President
